AR-15 15 upper assembly instructions
Continuing on with our AR-15 upper receiver build from last week’s forward assist installation, I will be guiding you through how to install the ejection port cover. Installing the ejection port cover is one of those things that can prove to be easier said than done, but with my help, we will get it done in almost no time.
- Ejection port cover
- Ejection port cover rod
- Ejection port cover spring
- Small “C” clip
- Needle nose pliers
Simply stated, the ejection port cover rod goes through the upper receiver, through the first half of the ejection port cover, through the spring, through the second half of the ejection port cover and finally through the upper receiver. However, there are some specific things to pay attention to in order to accomplish this successfully. If you would like to watch me do it, be sure to check the above video.
When I installed my ejection port cover, I secured my upper receiver in the upper receiver vise block so I could keep my hands free. Using an upper receiver vise block is optional, but you may find it quite helpful.
Congratulations, you just installed the ejection port cover on your AR-15 upper receiver. You may be wondering why the rod can still be removed. Once the barrel and rail are installed, it will not be able to slide out anymore. Be sure to check in next week for when I guide you through the barrel installation.
