First Assembly of God Normal IL
First Assembly of God is located at 800 East Vernon Avenue in Normal. They have two Sunday morning services at 9:00 and 10:45 AM, and a Wednesday evening service at 6:30 PM. The average attendance on a weekly basis is 900 people. However, First Assembly (also called 1AGBN) is about much more than just church services. The establishment does everything it can to connect to the community at large. This involves supporting several charities of different kinds in the Bloomington Normal area( Home Sweet Home Ministries and Safe Harbor are examples), hosting fun and safe events for children, and organizing volunteer opportunities for the congregation. First Assembly is intent on helping the community where ever it can, and is hopeful for more opportunities to do so.
First Assembly follows the basic core beliefs of the Assembly of God denomination. They are as follows:
- The scripture in the Bible is inspired by God and is the only authoritative Word of God.
- There is one God who exists as a trinity: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
- Jesus Christ is God the Son, and acceptance of him as Lord and Savior is the only way to heaven.
- Water baptism by immersion is a public display of faith- it is not a way to heaven.
- Prayer can heal people of physical ailments and emotional trauma.
