California General Assembly

Student working at our new campus in San FranciscoIn early 2014, there was some press coverage and debate when coding “bootcamps” and other tech skills training programs in the Bay Area came under examination by the State of California’s regulatory agency for postsecondary education. At that point, GA had already commenced its efforts to comply with the California Bureau of Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE) requirements, and we saw it as a positive step for consumer protection and quality in our fledgling industry. Since then, we have been working diligently with state officials, and today we are proud to announce that General Assembly is officially the first (and only) school of its kind to be licensed by the State of California.

It is great to demonstrate compliance with state standards in the state widely viewed as the center of technology and innovation. Here at GA, we invest relentlessly in the continuous improvement and evolution of every element of our programs, and that effort shows in the results for our students and other stakeholders.

As always, our most important accountability is to our students. Enrolling in a program at General Assembly is an investment with big expectations of a real ROI over the long-term, and we take that investment very seriously. Worldwide there are more than 12, 000 alumni from GA’s full- and part-time programs, and they continue to amaze us with their abilities and accomplishments. We hope that this milestone is viewed as an acknowledgment of them and all they will achieve.
